1. Ask why the police want to come in

The police will usually ask permission to enter your home or business from a person who lives in the house and is over the age of 18, or someone who works in a supervisory role in your business.

You don’t have to allow the police into your home or business. If you don’t want them inside, tell them. If you don’t tell them, the police may assume you have agreed to let them in.

Tell the police if you don’t want them to enter your home or business. But never try to stop them from entering your home or business. If the police enter your home or business without permission, tell them you want to talk to a lawyer right away.
