You cannot sponsor your spouse or common-law partner if:  

• you were sponsored as a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner and became a permanent resident less than 5 years ago, or
• you sponsored a spouse or partner in the past and it’s been less than 3 years since they became a permanent resident.
