4. Take legal steps

If your landlord still doesn’t give you your belongings, you may have to take legal steps.

In most cases the fastest and easiest way to do this is to apply to the Landlord and Tenant Board to make your landlord return your things or pay you for taking them.

In some situations you might have to sue your landlord in court instead. For example, you can’t apply to the Board if more than a year has passed or if you want to claim more than $35,000.
