4. Give your closing statement

After both you and your landlord finish presenting your evidence and questioning all the witnesses, you can each give a closing statement.

In your closing statement, you explain why you think the Board member should not you. Your statement should be based on:

  • what the witnesses have said
  • the documents that have been used as evidence
  • the rules and laws that apply to your case

Your landlord goes first, then you. Your landlord then has a last chance to speak, but only about anything new that you raised in your closing statement.
