4. Apply for help in an urgent situation

Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) does not provide services, even emergency services. They connect you to others who provide services. But they have a process for emergency requests, and they can try to arrange emergency services.

An example of an emergency would be if your family can’t take care of you, or if you’re homeless or might be homeless very soon.

Tell them if you’re in this kind of situation. Ask to make an emergency request.

But, there aren’t always enough developmental services and supports to quickly help people in these situations. You might need to go to a hospital for help. Or get legal help right away.
