Option: CAS closes their file

After doing an initial screening to check on your child, a (CAS) might decide to close their file if:

  • the reported risk isn’t serious enough for CAS to do anything, or
  • you and your child’s other caregivers don’t need any support.

Sometimes CAS closes their without ever speaking to your child, you,  or anyone else. Other times, CAS might close their file after speaking to your child, you and your child’s other caregivers.

For example, if someone calls CAS because they’re worried about how you’re disciplining your child, CAS might decide that the discipline doesn’t put your child at risk of harm. Before closing their file, CAS might give you information on different ways to discipline your child.
