4. Get a decision

The Victim Quick Response Program + (VQRP+) says their goal is to process requests:

  • within 3 business days for funeral and emergency expenses
  • within 5 business days for counselling or traditional Indigenous healing expenses
  • within 10 business days for applications from those who were seriously injured by a violent crime or by the immediate family member of a homicide victim

If you disagree with a decision, you may be able to apply for a judicial review. When you apply for a judicial review, you’re asking a judge to review a decision because of a big legal or factual mistake in the decision. It’s a good idea to talk to a lawyer if you want to do this.

It’s not clear if there will be some other review process that does not involved going to court if you disagree with a decision.
