I want to cancel my cellphone contract. What should I know?

The Wireless Code protects cellphone users in Canada. This code sets the rules that cellphone providers must follow, including how to cancel your cellphone contract.  

You can always cancel your cellphone contract. But your service provider may be able to charge you a fee for cancelling. How much they can charge depends on whether they gave you a discounted phone, and whether your contract has an end date.

In some situations, your service provider cannot charge you a cancellation fee. For example, if you cancel during the trial period, or you did not receive a contract.

No matter when you cancel a contract, you must pay for all the services you used before cancelling.
